I did one project for a issue of Dossier Journal (www.dossierjournal.com) and the theme was "My First Time". I started to think about my first time and the concept of anyone's first time in general. This made my mind float between levels of sweetness and confusion. It made me think about what is real and what is not, particularly in the faded memories...where did the emotion disappear to? I decided to have a sort of "funeral" for the event and I made a mixtape because we all need music to move on.

I told Shoko, Satoshi and Hamilton that I have One idea = one vision for one improv. song, in my head...

I went to see Yoshitomo Nara's exhibit and I somehow felt that his pictures are very musically poetic....

The picture above is his painting, M.J. (= Michael Jackson)

How come his approach (which is very Japanese in a cute way, and very nostalgic) transcends to so many people around the world ?

When thinking about what's going on the world, and seeing his exhibition, 2 words started to float around in my mind.

Joey Roth released his Ceramic Speakers earlier this year. Their　porcelain shells and natural birch stands looked to many like a blank　canvas. So, Joey gave sets of the speakers to nine of his favorite　artists and designers, to modify and reshape using their own visual　languages. The collaborators then worked with musicians to produce　tracks specifically for their re-imagined speaker systems. During the　show, these tracks will be played sequentially through the　corresponding set of speakers. Each collaborator's concept will be on　display, both as an object and as a musical composition.

The premiere of NEW STILL LIFE on August 12th, at Monkeytown.

Summer of 09, Miho ( a former of Cibo Matto ) started to do new projects with new concepts.
One is NEW OPTIMISM, another is NEW STILL LIFE.
Two are tied each other, like Sun and Moon.

In NEW STILL LIFE, all songs related to food, which Miho's speciality that she has been doing since Cibo Matto era.

"Eating : ultimate and primitive art activity of human being, but it has been melting in our everyday life. but it's a ceremony of life, to magnify the speed of time, a moment and our body functions, life and death. It's NEW STILL LIFE."

Today I read An article about Pandora.
And I have to be honest that I typed in my name on Pandora and I quite surprised the result of the songlist. I am not saying good or bad. I have never thought those songs came up. But difinately I learned a real taste of internet marketing system.

This experiene gave me an imagination of Cyborg DJ called Pandora. She lives in 2.0 world.
She is absolutely beautiful, and she is a virgin forever, on contingency (human kind).

Meanwhile, I saw a twitter posting of Shannon (from a band, Stars like Fleas ), he was at MoMA for James Ensor.

I'm remixing of one of my song which I sung in Japanese. And now, I am putting English on. It is same spirit what I want to sing, but I felt I am creating different creation in a way.

I started from translating the original Japanese lyrics to English, but it was not....

not quite right...

this feeling, what can I express ?

It is like... as if you are making sculpture of a face.

and putting mouth on the place Nose should be on.

Approach is different.

Each Languages have different approaches.

Also, I developed my own skills for music since I made the original version.

In the 2nd pictures of Poussin, the skull on the top of the grave is gone.

I feel that I was like a woman in the 1st picture when I was making the original, but now, I am standing like a woman in the 2nd pictute, toward to the grave and facing to the word on it " Et in Arcadia Ego".

Sing for cure of Saudade

I went to the premire of the film "The man who bottled clouds." It's a ducumentary film of Brazilian Music style called Forro and based on the life of the lyricist, Humberto Teixeira who wrote so many classics with the king of Forro, Luiz Gonzaga. Everyone knows Samba and Bossa Nova, but the real triangle of Brazilian music will be complete with Forro. Forro is like Vishunu. Fortunately my singing is in the film when I sang with Forro in the dark ( my pals's band.) . I learned so much from this film and strong haertbeat of love for music in Brazil. I think his lyrics was the bridge of boundary of duality which Human beings always create in order to make society. Urban and Rural. It was very powerful movie.

Humberto and Luiz made a song called "Qui nem jiló", the lyrics goes in the chorus,

Saudade, o meu remédio é cantar

It clicked my heart, I wrote about my song, Calvin yesterday. But I discover different perspective for the song. I am going to burn my saudade.

I have a song, called Calvin. It was my favorite track 3 month ago. But I didn't put the lyrics yet. Yesterday I was trying to finish the lyrics, and that was hard. The song is sort of wishing situation. A tad sad. So I started to feel the memory when I was writing. Those emotion is so alive. In portuguese there is a word called "Saudade". And in Japanese, we say "Wabi Sabi". But I have to say I felt uncomfortable those emotion. Make me think "do I need to sing this song ?" It's quite nice one, but, if it made me feel that way, I need to have some kind of strength to come back to the reality. Probably that's the game to fight by my own. Creation is so deep....

I was listening to Andrew Andrew's radio.

They said they loves Boston lettuce, not into Iceburg lettuce.

Someone made me a sandwich of Cinnamon Rasins Bread and Boston lettuce+Mayo+ham+tometo slices, ( maybe cheese too ). A hint of Boston lettuce's bitterness was supprisingly good with the sweetness of Bread. Nice mix like a nice track....

Dia Beacon to Space Odyssey

The end of 2007. I went to Dia: Beacon (museum). The space is amazing. I love it. It worths to go there, just a hour and a half from NYC. That was lightly raining but the winter view of Hudson river was just like a painting (Hudson river school ) I saw all the time in Antiques roadshow of PBS. I almost text my art dealer and another kind dealer to say what's up.

Anyway Dia:beacon.

I was so happy to see On Kawara's works.

It was so inspiring to see specially the 100 years calendar. This experience kinda made me write more thoughts in this blogs for open space (internet). The time we have is... not really a lot. I almost tear to be in front of the piece, it vibrated to me soundlessly. That is the sound of time, I think.

Then Agnes Martin. If I can, I would love to buy her painting.

The colors she used made me warm somehow. I found out she is already passed away, but I almost felt her energy were there in the room, Art is powerful, because of it. It lives even the creator disappears. I was sitting in her room for a long time, and I felt feminine love energy. or some meditation state if her vision. Beautiful, warm, encouraging. But I saw the process of changing in her conscious a left room, more gray color area. It was just so amazing to see her path of mind. I could relate to it.

That was very brain challenging experience.

I was keep circling around to feel the effect in my brain function in his piece.

Something was very familiar sense in my brain but that's something I could put in the words.

Something is.... nostalgic.

Then after 3 mins, I got a flash.

That was the same brain effect I got in Takachiho Kyou (Basin ) in Japan !!!!!! wow !!!

Takachiho places in Kyushu, the birth place of Japanese Mythology. The basin was covered with lava from Mt. Aso volcanic activity. It is just AMAZING place, one of probably my favorite place on the earth. Japanese mythology was made of those hot hot energy. (That's something I can relate as a Japanese, probably more than Zen and stuff. ) I was overwhelmed by the wall of lava, basically. Felt the dizziness from the visual sensation. Did the ancient people felt same kind of sense ? What I felt was those the piece of art by nature is just beyond of human power and I felt yeah, nature power, to use as human term, gods. Un-describable. Isn't it interesting ? So that means, the gods are our expression of the surface of those un-describable esthesis, senses ? It is very much 2001 space odyssey.

Richard Serra's and Takachiho Basin, both have very similar structure and shape of curves.

東京の底力

日本にいる。今年、2回目。今回の帰国は、余裕が全くない。

もうちょっとゆっくりしたかった。
なんでこんなに日本にいると時間の速さが速いのか。

なんでも、便利過ぎるからなのかもしれない。
これで、終電もなく電車が２４時間走っていたら、東京は、世界とかけ離れた時空に行ってしまうのではないかと思う。

だから、２４時間態勢じゃないほうが、まだ　”かわいげ”　がある。

先日、新聞に東京近郊の電車がすべて載っている地図が入っていた。
おばあちゃんが、とっておくといいね、と言った。
その地図を、見て、私は唖然とした。すごい路線の数々！

この地図を見て、感じた驚きと、薬局（毎回、物がものすごく多くてすごいなぁと思う）に行って感じた感覚は同じだ。
合理主義を通り過ごしたものがあるのではないかと感じた。そこに、私は東京の底力を感じる。

東京の薬局で、物がものすごく多く感じてしまうのは、ひょっとしたら、漢字とひらがな、カタカナ、アルファベットが、あらゆるところに使われているからなのかもしれないと思った。

それを把握している、把握可能な脳みそが、あのような鉄道路線を作ったのかもしれない。

そんなに見えない事

私の祖母は草花や植物を育てるのが上手。
庭には、何から何まで色んな植物がある。毎朝、水をあげて、手入れ。
まぁ、お年寄りのいる日本の家ならば、よくあることだろう。

さて、去年の夏の出来事。
私は昆虫が好きで何かと庭を見ると、虫に目が行く。
彼女の庭には色んな虫が生存しているのだ。

黒に黄色のストライプが入った毛虫がいた。

”おばあちゃん、ほら、見事な黄色だね。”
”やだ！どこ？！？！全然見えなかった！！”
と言って、彼女は慌てて除虫スプレーを振りまいた。
慌てふためく毛虫を見て、私はもののあはれを感じた。

何故、彼女の庭があのように豊かな生態系になっているのか、
紫外線カメラで撮った花の写真を見て思ったことがある。

彼女には老眼で細かいものが見えないのだ。
当然、虫も見えない。
だから、虫ものびのび生きて、その彼らが花から花へ花粉を運び、毎年、花が咲く。
紫外線カメラで花を見ると、花の花粉や蜜のある場所は赤っぽい色を帯びている。
あの庭には赤っぽい色がたくさんあるのだろう。
決して大きい庭ではないが、当然、鳥もよく羽根を休めにくる。

そんなに、見えない。
だから故に、お年寄りは庭の手入れが上手になるのだろう。
世間とは逆な考え方かもしれないけど、
これって色んなことに当てはまるのではないか。
あんまり手入れし過ぎると自然であることと共存できないんじゃないかって考えた。

そうか、世間っていうのは、もともと人間様が作った制度で、日本が世間体を重んじるということは、それだけ、脳化しているってことなんだ。管理できるもの、管理せざるもの、この間でどこに自分を置くかは、自由だ。たとえ、見えなくても、見失わなければいい。
